The car accident claim process

Repair Estimate Created and Declared to the Insurer

Once your vehicle has been collected and is with one of our BSI Accredited Accident Repair Centres, the next step is to create a detailed repair estimate. This repair estimate provides a damage assessment, parts and materials required, the repair procedures and all of the total costs.

Damage Assessment

A thorough inspection of the vehicle is conducted to identify all visible and hidden damage resulting from the accident. This includes a detailed description of each affected area and photographic evidence to document the extent of the damage.

Parts and materials

Parts and Materials

Based on the damage assessment, a comprehensive list of replacement parts and necessary materials is compiled. This includes specifying original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts.

Repair Procedures

A step-by-step outline of the repair process is provided, detailing the specific procedures required to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition. This may involve bodywork, painting, mechanical repairs, or a combination of these.

Sending the estimate to the insurer

Compiling the Repair Estimate

A complete repair estimate is then created. It outlines all the necessary repairs, parts, and labour required to restore your vehicle to its pre-accident condition. This is based on the damage assessment, parts list, repair procedures, and total costs.

The document is created using specialised software. It is structured using industry standards, tailored for efficient insurer review and faster claim processing.

Submitting the Estimate to the Insurer

With the repair estimate prepared, we submit it to the third-party insurer (The at-fault driver’s insurer). This begins the approval process for the repair costs. Our process meets all the criteria of insurer requirements to streamline the process. The estimate is clear, detailed, and justifiable, making it easier for the insurer to understand and quicker for them to approve the necessary work.

The finalised estimate, along with all supporting documentation (damage photos, repairer certifications etc.), is submitted to the at-fault party's insurer.
